What this is
A native Windows application for a live explanation: pressure-aware ink, an unbounded canvas, SQL and DAX containers with local formatting, LiveView capture of a window or a display, and portable .wboard files. No account. The guide is how a session runs.
What this is not
- Not a meeting whiteboard. There is no real-time collaboration and no shared cloud board.
- Not a service. There is no tenant, no sign-in, and no retirement date attached to someone else’s platform.
- Not macOS, iPad, or a browser. Boards do not open on the web.
Beside Microsoft Whiteboard
Microsoft retires its Whiteboard app on 16 October 2026. SQLBI Whiteboard is built for the same room, a projector and a pen, and for a different file.
| SQLBI Whiteboard | Microsoft Whiteboard | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the board lives | A local .wboard file | Azure, then OneDrive |
| Account | None | Microsoft account / tenant |
| Platforms | Windows 10 version 2004 or later, 64-bit | Windows, web, and Microsoft 365 clients |
| Collaboration | One person at the board | Real-time, multi-user |
| Ink and objects | Strokes can travel with a container | Ink and objects on a shared canvas |
| Code | SQL and DAX containers, F6 formats locally | Not a language surface |
| Live application | LiveView of a window or a display | Not a capture surface |
If you need a shared meeting board, keep using a meeting product. If you need to teach something on a pen display and keep the file next to the workshop, this is the application.
